i foresee that this will be a short post considering how much fun we had enduring other stuffs.
but really in a nutshell, srgce nepal was a fun, fulfilling trip. :-)
the things that made the trip great:
1) the company
really, i couldn't ask for a better group.
group 4 was such an amazing bunch of people to be around with, and every moment spent together was really, happy.
we did so many things together; having all our meals, doing interviews with the locals, buying group masks, conducting nightly presentations and the list goes on.
thank you group 4 for everything else that made this trip such a sweet one :-)
i will never forget you guys.
i think it's amazing how we work so well as a group.
we're really a bunch of people filled with endless laughter, joys, jokes and i really like how we always look out for one another.
feeling so much love :-)
especially the time i pulled a nerve in my foot, thanks guys for showing me concern and scolding me whenever i stubbornly refused to listen to y'all hehehe.
hey huixian!
thank you for being my awesome roommate for the past 8 nights.
i have probably been a huge burden to you thanks to my foot...
and how i keep shitting and playing music in the toilet hahahaha.
i will always remember the first and second nights together when we got scolded for exceeding the lights out timing and the day that we had to stay in the hotel thanks to our illness & injury :(
so thankful to have someone so caring and cute like you as my roommate and a fellow excofam yay :-)
hey kristy!
thank you for being such a great group leader that saw us through this entire trip, even way beforehand during the planning stage.
you are really very capable and you make an amazing leader who can do anything and everything.
and for always taking the blame whenever things go wrong.
you are like this super hilarious older sister to us all during the trip!
how you always spoil photos while smiling with your eyes closed hehehe.
thank you for being a great plane buddy too!!!
hey shanu!
thank you for being a great group leader who never failed to hype us up!
i will always remember the times when you and fred did the college dance together.
you always laugh so crazily it becomes so contagious!!!
and my fellow injured-tent mate who sprained your ankle too sigh :-(
i can't believe we were so unlucky, but nevertheless we had a good time laughing and resting in the tent with you trying to sneeze hahaha!
and yes we finished the hike successfully, three cheers for us!!
hey sylvia!
really, you are so cute i can't even hahaha!
thank you for being there for me throughout the hike and for always looking out for me :-)
i think we can agree that we had a great chat along the hike yeah?
the more i look at you the more i think you look just like elmo haha!
bus rides with you and the rest of the backseat gang was actually quite memorable despite the fact that we spent almost all our time sleeping hahaha!
thank you for always letting me into your room to use the toilet at night because it was scarily dark outside to use the public toilet :')
hey chelsia!
thank you for being such a sweetie pie hahaha aww!
you and your handwritten cards for the group hehe i am still very amazed by your tribal print drawing!!
and for always bunking at the backseat of the bus with me while i just snooze and you trying to discourage me from sleeping hahaha!
i think i have the most numbers of selfies with you hehe yay!
you can always call me beanie lai ;)
or bai tu if you'd like hahaha!
it was really a pleasure to be in the same group as you this trip :')
hey edan!
thank you for being my fellow class 7 mate!
it sure was fun leading the children and engaging them in our cultural games!!!
and for updating me about whatever happened on the day that i missed cip...
i was honestly very touched when you said the children missed me :')
you're a super blur and cute egg hahaha but thank you for offering to make me hot milo on the last day to keep me warm and awake!
it was really sweet of you edan :)
thank you!
hey frederick!
my fellow swagmaster/plane buddy hahaha!
you are such a hilarious gossiper omg i can't even hahaha charles was right about you.
thank you for actually making the effort to sustain a conversation with me be it on the plane or on the bus.
you are a very approachable and nice person to talk to!
and thanks alot ah for saying that i look like a rabbit hahahaha!
i will never forget the fact that we actually caught someone watching something omg....
scarred for life lol.
but really, thanks for being the life of group 4, you ostrich~
hey gary!
i know you don't like publicizing your photos but sorry i had to hahaha.
thanks for your spontaneity whenever we wanted to take photos!
and for all the backseat bus madness especially with david when he goes crazy taking selfies hahah!
glad that you opened up a lot more on this trip!
your humor and sarcasm really made this trip a lot better!
thankful for a group member and fellow excofam like you :)
hey jeremy!
thank you for being the brain of group 4!!
you're really clever omg i am always mindblown whenever you speak up during our nightly reflections!
and also when answering our questions during the debate!
you're really hardworking and on-task i am super amazed :-)
and it was really heartwarming to see you offer your phone to have our group photo taken!
i hope that you did enjoy our company as much as i did with you around!
thank you!
2) the children
i think the children we helped were really adorable!!!
it was really heartwarming to see smiles on their faces when they were ever-enthusiastic about the activities we planned for them!
so here are individual stories of kids whom i've helped! :)
this girl was the first student i made in one of the younger classes aged about 3-5.
i'm not too sure what her name is, but i got to meet her during the school tour.
we entered this class and listened to them sing a nepalese folk song, while we sang old mcdonald to them!
so i chatted a little with her; turns out she is now the lock screen of chelsia's phone i think!
man the photo's a bit dark..
but anyway, here is a photo of the group that jialin and i took charge of during the dustbin painting activity!
this activity made me realise how talented these little children are when it comes to drawing!
i think these kids did a great job when painting the bucket because i could really see how focused and interested they were :)
hopefully they actually learnt much about keeping their environment clean! :)
here is a photo of me with ajay and rajun, the first 2 kids i met in class 7!
they are really nice and understanding.
the fact that i couldn't grasp their names even after 2 whole days made me feel so embarrassed, but the most heartwarming thing was that they actually remembered my name in less than a day!
they would always say "hi jamie!" whenever they see me around the school!
and for asking why i wasn't here on one of the days due to my foot injury, i was honestly very touched hahaha!
^ this was the girl who also asked me for the reason of absence on the 2nd last day :')
and i remember her very clearly because she was really sad about not being able to get a singapore/germany eraser :'(
but thank god there were extras from other classes!!!
so i managed to brighten up her day a little :-)
yay for class 7!!! (y)
spent my afternoon watching the volleyball match with vithu and ajay!
so glad that i got to talk to them and cheer for our schools playing with them!
they're really nice and happy kids i feel so happy just talking to them also :-)
and i felt so much love when these girls that i had helped plait their hair actually held my hand to aid my walk down the steep hill with an injured foot.
they were really helpful and even volunteered to hold my jacket for me!!
such sweet kids omg i really love them to bits!
sang resam firiri on the hill with group 4 for practice and vithu and her friend came along to join us!
it was really cute seeing how they laughed at the pronunciation mistakes i made heheh.
thank you girls for helping me with the song!!
this was the last day at the school during the prize presentations and farewells.
it was sad to see that we had to say goodbye but i'm glad i came and touched the lives of these children.
really thankful for this opportunity to go on srgce nepal.
and during the final dance "party" this girl spontaneously asked me to dance along with her and boy i sure had fun!
i was so awkward dancing but looking at the fun we all had makes me feel like everything i had done for the past few days was worth it all.
thank you shree chuna devi lower secondary school for all the wonderful memories that i have taken with me :-)
that pretty sums up the good sides of the trip and yes i think it was relatively substantial.
there were so many other things that made the trip super un-fun, but maybe i will blog about it another time.
anyway the people i went with and the people i've met there really made the trip a pleasant one :-)
not to forget the local tour guides from divine international who took great care of me when i was injured, especially paski, krishna and the doctor!
thank you all so much :-)
anticipate my next post about my time with the exco for 5 whole consecutive days!! :)
time to START on holiday homework...
